Cheery and bright wedding card

A friend commissioned me to make a wedding card for her traditional and peppy Southern girl friend, who is having a traditional and peppy Southern wedding. Think Lilly Pulitzer in color and style.

Bright and cheery.
Pink, turquoise, and orange.
And loads of monograms everywhere.

I was on it like wet cotton candy.

A 60th Celebration Layout

This is a simple happy-go lucky page I made of my mom's 60th birthday. Normally I don't use pastels, but I love how they look on other people's pages, so I gave it a shot. Plus my mom's favorite color is baby blue. Hopefully, the pastels work!

Easiest Scrapbook Page Ever

I'm on a simplicity kick. Mainly for scrapping weddings. But truly, I adhere to simplicity whenever I design a page.

Professional pictures, offset on one clean sheet of gorgeous, understated paper, says all that needs to be said. Here, I kept my friend's wedding invitation and other small items in the envelope, and popped up some of the professional photos (pre-set in a 4x6) on a 4x6 matte of paper using foam stickers. Done and done.

Materials: Follow Your Heart "Be happy" Your Song Paper by Rhonna Farrer via My Mind's Eye. A thick green cardstock that I hadn't used in years (10?) is hidden behind the 4x6 photos to make it sturdy, and foam stickers make the picture pop above the envelope.

SImple Scrapper July Challenge

Simple Scrapper has a seasonal reader's challenge for July: make a layout with red, white, and blue that is not about 4th of July.  One submission will be chosen randomly to win a $15 print credit from Persnickety Prints by participating in this month’s Simple Scrapper challenge!

This was certainly a challenge for me, but after mulling over ideas, I came up with this:

IMG_9890_1200x600
Materials: Paper: PB&J/Hip Fab by Basic Grey, Classic Calico/Woodgrain One by Studio Calico, Navy strip by Creative Memories (circa 1998); Tin Type and Buttermilk Sprinklers by October Afternoon, "Liberty" banner American Made by My Mind's Eye, American Crafts Thickers; Decorative Tabs by American Crafts; Template by Simple Scrapper Premium Membership

I was really hoping to make a layout of my recent trip to Amsterdam, but other pictures were pre-printed and ready to go, so those won. Some of my ideas are listed below.
  1. Trip to France,
  2. Trip to the Netherlands
  3. Trip to Great Britain,
  4. Trip to Australia or New Zealand
  5. Trip to any of the other countries with Red, White, and Blue Flags
  6. Or patriotic pages if you are from those countries
  7. Patriotic page for US
  8. Becoming an officer, lawyer, fireman, military personnel, etc
  9. Flag day and other holidays
  10. My mom's birthday (which is kind of cheating)

Happy 3rd of July!

It's a special day in our household. The week of 4th of July means a big family celebration. I'm missing my mom's birthday and Hillbilly Day as I am writing this. So I did the decent thing and made a happy little card to send her.
