Scrapbook Trends Publication!

Last month, one of my favorite pages was published in Scrapbook Trends!

This is my cover page for my 2011 album--a quick visual summary of my visitors, experiences, and the daily grind. Some experiences are shown in pictures, others represented by stickers, but either way, 2011 is summarized colorfully in my favorite style: clean, simple, bright, and graphic.

Simple Scrapper January 2013 Blog Hop & Giveaway

bloghop-0113

Happy New Year!

It's been a while since I've posted, but I'm back with gusto for this post! This is my last month with the Simple Scrapper Design Team. We have a wonderful group of women for 2013--some veterans, some newbies-- all with extensive talent. I'll be sad to leave them, but I'm choosing to do so for my own good. (Mainly, we've moved into a little ol' house that's gonna need plenty of work and loads of my free time!)

My layout from the Simple Scrapper Premium Membership includes a picture from the first weekend at our new home. We had visitors. And I was in a show. And loads of other stuff too that I would like to not share on the internets. (Not that y'all would care.) All in all, it was a success. Now I just need to make a page of Mr. Handsome and me from that weekend--you know, since I bought the house with him and everything.

In 2013, Simple Scrapper will have story prompts each month, and for January, it's gratitude. My layout below shows some of my own day-to-day favorites of life before our move. Being home by 6 is definitely long gone by now, but I can't wait to see what sort of day-to-day favorites emerge in our new lives.

Hop on over to the other team members' blogs to see their fun creations. You'll recognize some of the names; others are new. There are some really well done layouts this go round, including gorgeous uses of patterned paper, color, and white space. You'll love them!

Working with Jennifer Wilson and the design team from Simple Scrapper has been such a joy! Enjoy taking a peak at each one of the designers' blogs below to see how they are ringing in the new year with the January 2013 Templates from Simple Scrapper's Premium Membership.

Graffiti Sign Layout

Simple Scrapper's challenge this month is to make a layout with a sign. Head on over there to enter the challenge for yourself. You might win a prize!

I had loads of pictures with signs to choose from, but ultimately, summarizing a trip on a two-page spread was my choice. Rimini, Italy is a curious beach city. A lot of Russians come down there for Spring-break-like trips, so all of the old quintessentially Italian views, ruins, and monuments were hidden, blocked off, or covered with graffiti. I suppose it had it's own kind of charm.

Materials: Studio Calico: Newsport/Classic Calico; Scenic Route: Metropolis/Market St.; Bazzill Basics: Metallic Paper; S.E.I: Mountain Trail/Silvervalley Collection; Graffiti paper: Unknown, probably circa 2007; White Vellum, Ivory Glitter paper by Recollections; Studio Calico: BookJacket/Memoir Collection; Template by Simple Scrapper Premium Membership

I kept the embellishments to a minimum because the photography was strong. (I try to get artsy with my photos, but Mr. Handsome has a steadier hand. We make a good pair.) I added some flags and stripes in a graffiti paper to make the sign stand out. Here are a few detailed pictures so that you can see the shimmer of the paper (top) and detail in one of my favorite pictures (bottom):

Welcome to the October Simple Scrapper Blog Hop!

The Simple Scrapper layouts this month are gorgeous. I'm particularly fond of 3 of them, but I'm only showing one here! The one on the right is one of the grid layouts this month, and I combined it with one of September's grids so that I could include more pictures. (Sneaky me!)

Aldridge-October-Grid1-600x1200

Materials: Focal Point/Classic Calico by Studio Calico, Clam Bake/Lauderdale Collection by BasicGrey, Hambly Studios Screen Prints are Little Circles in magenta, Birds on Wire in silver, and Woodgrain in silver; thin strip under picture is River Rock/Silver Valley Collection by s.e.i; other squares are recollections (pink houndstooth) and unknown (green polka and violins); American Crafts Delight; Crate Paper Brad; Fonts are Broadway and Channel; Template from Simple Scrapper's Premium Membership
You'll notice that I went outside my box and used pink. As a general rule, I avoid pink, but crazy things happen sometimes! I'm moving mountains today!

September Simple Scrapper Blog Hop

bloghop-0912

Welcome to the September Simple Scrapper Blog Hop!

Today the Simple Scrapper Design team has loads of gorgeous takes on this month's layouts to show you. The great templates make our job easy!

True to my style, I kept my version simple and clean. My sister is also a clean-and-simple scrapper, and this page is going in her album, so it needed to be true to her too. I raided her stash of papers and embellishments and used a handmade brad. I also had her write the journaling. Isn't her handwriting gorgeous?

Toy Story Mania

Materials: Bazzill Basics Paper, Metropolis/Market Street paper by Scenic Route for the top and bottom strips, Recollections glitter paper for hand cut stars, Disney Button, handmade fabric brad, American Crafts Thickers, Template from Simple Scrapper's Premium Membership
